Tomorrow is National Doughnut Day!

On the first Friday in June, donut shops large and small throw open their doors and start handing out those dough-y bits of goodness for FREE!

Krispy Kreme is once again giving each guest who visits a participating location on National Doughnut Day (June 3, 2011) one FREE doughnut of any variety. No purchase is necessary to redeem the offer.  But make sure to check in with your favorite donut outlet, as they may have their own giveaway planned.

The free doughnut offer is good for one doughnut of any variety per customer at participating U.S. and Canadian Krispy Kreme retail shops. Visit Krispy Kreme's store locator page to find a participating Krispy Kreme location near you!

Though it sounds like a totally made-up holiday, National Donut Day is actually legit. It was begun in Chicago in 1938 by The Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. So if you didn’t properly reflect on those who served our country on Memorial Day weekend, this is a chance to reflect on those women who served those who serve.
